The bulk of the air cleaner housing is made from 1/2″; plywood, with some solid wood strips that hold the filters in place. the first parts to assemble are the “;l”; shaped pieces that the wooden strips attach to: the narrow “;l”; has two strips spaced 1″; apart for one filter.. Diy air filter woodworking . when obtaining begun, with the bulk of business these days running an on-line shop there are a number of things to consider. everybody intends to reach the biggest customer base possible by selling on the worldwide or nationwide market, however what aspects must be considered when obtaining things started.. A friend gave me a squirrel cage fan from an old furnace and i envisioned using it to power a shop air filter/air cleaner. so i dove into sketchup and design....
The project itself is a homemade shop air filter. shawn was able to score a couple old furnace blower motors for free and the smaller of the two was to be the fan for his shop filter. the other he gave to me to use later. i’m not sure when i’ll get around to making one for my shop but now i know i have a motor for it.. There is a new product on amazon called box fan filter grip which is an accessory that allows you to turn a 20” box fan and 20" furnace filter into an air cleaner/purifier. box fan filter grip consists of 2 silicone bands that are sized correctly to hold a 1” x 20” x 20” furnace type filter to a typical 20” x 20” box fan.. Air quality is always an issue for woodworkers, especially if we are working in a basement or when we don’t want to give up the heat in the shop to an open window during those cold winter months. there are plenty of ‘store bought’ systems out there to filter the air, but they can be pricey..
